Today, we are thrilled to announce a significant milestone in our journey – the commencement of deployment testing for RideBuddy, a comprehensive safety solution for corporate mobility in India.
What is RideBuddy?
RideBuddy is an end-to-end audio-based safety solution for corporate mobility in India. RideBuddy utilizes audio captured within the vehicle to analyze, and assist in various situations, incidents, and emergencies during rides. Our aim is to provide a seamless and secure experience for all passengers, ensuring immediate support and assistance from the Bosch team whenever needed.
The vision for RideBuddy originated two years ago during a pitch night, with the goal of making corporate mobility safe, secure, and accessible to everyone. After extensive brainstorming, ideation, and the dedicated efforts of over 40 team members, we are now ready to test the minimum viable product (MVP) featuring initial key functionalities. We invite you to experience the same!
In 2022, we did a soft launch at a demo day at Bosch premises with some of our stakeholders- Our customers and move in sync. This event marked the beginning of our journey and was attended by key stakeholders, including customers and Move in Sync. The positive reception at this event set the stage for the challenges and triumphs that lay ahead.
The year 2023 proved to be a pivotal period for RideBuddy, characterized by numerous challenges and significant milestones. Our primary focus was on solidifying the architectural framework and refining the service design to ensure a robust and scalable solution. This involved intensive work on both the hardware and industrialization aspects of RideBuddy.
We embarked on the journey from the A sample to the B sample stage, which required a comprehensive redesign of the device. This redesign was essential to accommodate healthier engineering practices and ensure the device's long-term reliability and performance. Each iteration brought us closer to our goal of delivering an excellent, end-to-end audio-based safety solution for corporate mobility.
As we kick off the deployment testing for the RideBuddy device in the Bosch fleet, our primary goal is to gather valuable feedback that will drive further development and enhancement based on real-world usage and insights from fellow Boschlers.
Monitoring Driver Behavior: RideBuddy aids in detecting rash driving by the driver and intervenes by sending gentle reminders and nudges to ensure safe driving practices are maintained throughout the ride.
Accuracy of Pickup and Drop-off Locations: RideBuddy ensures precise pickup and drop-off locations while continuously tracking your vehicle during the journey. Any deviations from the designated points are summarized in a report at the end of the trip.
Prompt identification of events, incidents or emergencies- RideBuddy facilitates prompt identification of events, incidents, or emergencies. Our GPS system sends data every 3 seconds to track your vehicle and ensures accurate pickup and drop-off. Temperature sensors inside the cabin keep the environment comfortable. The device includes speakers and microphones to assist during SOS calls and provide gentle reminders to the driver for issues like rash driving or speeding.
SOS Alerts- In the event of an emergency or incident, the SOS mechanism can be activated by pressing the side switch located on the device. This action will initiate an emergency call to the Bosch Security Operations (SO) team, ensuring immediate support and assistance.
